Recognizing Leadership in Investor Relations

CIRI has established three programs to identify leadership in investor relations: CIRI Fellows, the Award for Excellence in Investor Relations and the Belle Mulligan Award for Leadership in Investor Relations.

CIRI Fellows

The CIRI Fellowship Program recognizes leaders in the investor relations profession who, by their achievements, bring distinction to the profession and serve as role models for others. CIRI Fellows have made significant contributions to the advancement of the investor relations profession and to CIRI throughout their careers. Earning the designation of F.CIRI, the CIRI Fellow is the highest honour for investor relations professionals in Canada.

Eligibility for Fellows Consideration:

  • Membership in CIRI for a minimum of 10 years; open to all member types including corporate, consultant, vendor and retired.
  • Nominations will be evaluated based on:
    • Individual and organizational performance as an IR professional;
    • Involvement within the IR community;
    • Leadership in the IR community and among peers;
    • Integrity/ethics/respect for others and the profession; and
    • Innovation/advancement of/within the profession.
  • Current CIRI National Directors and members of the Fellows Selection Committee are not eligible for nomination.

Fellows Selection Process:

  • Nominations are accepted from CIRI members; members may also self-nominate.
  • Complete and send this form via email to Jane Maciel at [email protected].
  • The Fellows Selection Committee will select the class of new CIRI Fellows based on the criteria above.
  • The CIRI Board must approve all Fellow candidates proposed by the Fellows Selection Committee.
  • New Fellows are recognized annually at CIRI's Annual Conference.

Award for Excellence in Investor Relations

The Award for Excellence in Investor Relations is given by CIRI to honour individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the investor relations profession and to the Institute.

Eligibility for CIRI Award for Excellence in Investor Relations:

  • The Award for Excellence in Investor Relations is given by CIRI to honour individuals who have made an outstanding contribution, through their long history of leadership, to the investor relations profession and/or to CIRI.
  • The individual should be an active CIRI member as well as a well-regarded practitioner or consultant.

Award for Excellence Selection Process:

  • Past recipients of the Award for Excellence are invited to participate on the Selection Committee.

  • Nominations are accepted from CIRI members; members may also self-nominate.
  • The Committee will consider nominees from the current and prior years along with any others who should be considered for the Award.
  • The new award recipient is recognized annually at CIRI's Annual Conference

Belle Mulligan Award for Leadership in Investor Relations

The Belle Mulligan Award for Leadership in Investor Relations is given in honour of the late Belle Mulligan to recognize individuals who have shown singular leadership in one or more aspects of the practice of IR. These could include new or improved applications of technology, progressive approaches to disclosure, outstanding mentorship, or remarkable leadership in any other aspects of IR.

Eligibility for the Belle Mulligan Award for Leadership in Investor Relations:

  • The Award for Leadership in Investor Relations is given in honour of the late Belle Mulligan to recognize individuals who have shown singular leadership in one or more aspects of the practice of IR. These could include new or improved applications of technology, progressive approaches to disclosure, outstanding mentorship, or remarkable leadership in many other aspects of IR.
  • The nominee is a member of CIRI and an IR practitioner at a publicly traded company.
  • The nominee has demonstrated a high level of integrity.

Award for Leadership Selection Process:

  • Recipients are selected by the Award for Leadership Selection Committee.

  • Nominations are accepted from CIRI members; members may also self-nominate.
  • The Committee will consider nominees from the current and prior year along with any others who should be considered for the Award.
  • The new award recipient is recognized annually at CIRI's Annual Conference
