CIRI Comments on Business Law Advisory Council Report to Minister of Government and Consumer Services FALL 2016

CIRI submitted comments in response to the Business Law Advisory Council Report to Minister of Government and Consumer Services FALL 2016 on the Ontario Business Corporations Act (OBCA). This is CIRI’s second submission on the OBCA. The initial submission was done on October 16, 2015.

In this submission, CIRI supports the recommendation that the 25% residency requirement for the Board of Directors be eliminated. We also reiterated that the OBCA be revised to remove existing impediments to the use of current and potential future electronic communications technologies applicable to efficient business processes.
