Insights & Ideas Exchange - Q4

This new event series will consist of a fireside chat with a veteran IRO and allow the opportunity to have an open dialogue and exchange ideas among peers.

This virtual event will be held quarterly with an open format where you will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from a Veteran IRO.

 They will be sharing their experiences from their career and insights on:

  • how they landed in IR;
  • the importance of IR being a strategic role;
  • how to be successful in an IR role and where it could take you; and
  • how the IR role may evolve in the future.

Roy MacDonald, Group VP, Investor Relations, Loblaw Companies Limited, George Weston Limited
Roy has worked to build a best-in-class investor relations program at Loblaw Companies Limited since March 2014. In his role, Roy’s mission is to enable full market valuation for Loblaw through proactive two-way communications and interaction with the capital markets demonstrating the highest integrity and appropriate transparency.

Roy has over fourteen years of experience in investor relations spanning multiple industries (consumer staples, mining, oil and gas, and technology). His extensive experience includes planning and leading shareholder and other stakeholder communications through extraordinary events and crisis communications (executive changes, acquisitions and divestitures, restructuring programs, etc), while building and delivering an award-winning IR program (as recognized by IR Magazine, and Brendan Wood “TopGun” awards).

Prior to investor relations, Roy worked at Nortel Networks, where he progressed through the Finance organization including positions in Treasury, FP&A, and Accounting Services. After joining the M&A team, to divest of the company’s businesses, Roy led the finance function as CFO of a $250M company that was subsequently sold to Ericsson. Roy has an MBA in Finance and a BBA in Marketing.
